Review of Your Dreams Are Mine Now by Ravinder Singh

Storyline: They are complete opposites.
She is a small town girl who takes admission in Delhi University (DU). She is an idealist and studies are his first priority.
He is a Delhi guy, seriously into youth politics in DU. He fights to make his way. Student union elections are his first priority.
But then opposites attract as well.
A scandal on the campus brings them together, they begin to follow the same path and somewhere along they fall for each other. But their fight against the evil comes at a heavy price, which becomes the ultimate test of their life.

Against the backdrop of dominant campus politics, Your Dreams Are Mine Now is an innocent love story that will tug at your heartstrings.

Well, this is what written in the blurb of the book. This book is far from just being a poignant love story. This can be considered Ravinder's 2nd best work in this writing industry after I Too Had A Love Story.
In simple lucid language the story becomes more interesting as one turns the pages. Arjun and Rupali's love story is very innocent. The way he has set the backdrop of the story will pull India's youth to a large extent towards this book.
Vaishali Mathur, the Senior Commissioning editor at Penguin Random House also needs a thumbs up since she came up with an apt title for the book. And yet again the last sentence which our N.G.O, 'The Daughters Of The Soil' will tell is that Ravinder Singh has once again proved that he is the undisputed King Of Romance for this writing industry.

Interview with Madhuri Banerjee:

(This interview was held on 12th October, 2014, during Litomania Festival in Mumbai by Madhurima Halder. This interview has been published in Whatzupp Kolkata magazine.)

Madhuri Banerjee is a national best selling author from Mumbai. She is the director of a creative production house. Being a media professional she has even worked as a senior assisstant director for film makers like Subhash Ghai, Rohan Sippy and Kaizad Gustad. Her thesis film BETWEEN DUALITIES won her the National Award for the best documentary on women's issues in 1999. Above all she is also a mother, an active blogger and the face of Revlon as their relationship expert.
Here we present before you another strong contending women writing for and about girls and women in today's world.

With Madhuri Banerjee in Mumbai.
  • Madhurima: Well, starting with the interview, I would love to ask you from your childhood. How was your childhood like? Did you plan it from your childhood itself that you would write one day? Can you share some cherishing memories?

Madhuri: Yes, Madhurima I always thought that I would be writing from my childhood because I had a grandfather who was always into philosophy and whenever I used to go for any vacations he gave me a diary and asked me to always write in that. He was the one who always encouraged me to write a bit. Writing served a very good purpose during my teenage years as well as whenever I felt any kind of angst during those days I used to immediately write it down. And I was quite an ugly child, so (laughs) writing somewhat saved me.

  • Madhurima: After writing so many books, did you ever think that you will get a chance to write the screenplay for Hate Story 2?
Madhuri: I have been into this industry for a long time. I have worked with directors like Kaizad Gustad, Subhash Ghai and Rohan Sippy. Meanwhile, I have been also writing my scripts. Even I directed my own documentaries. After writing books I got this oppurtunity to write for Vikram Bhatt in Hate Story 2. I really loved the idea of writing this because novel is a different medium, my blogs are very different and even my tweets are different. So I am very thankful to God for it. That's all.
  • Madhurima: Congratulations once again for it. Your latest book is Scandalous Housewives Mumbai, so tell us something about that book?
Madhuri: Scandalous Housewives Mumbai is the story of four women who live in a high rise building in Mumbai. Every evening they come down for a walk, gossips, eat together like most of the housewives in Mumbai do. But each one of them holds deep dark secrets in their life. One day an email comes round which reveals their deep dark secrets and the fabric of their relationship is kind of torn apart. This story is all about these women dealing with their maids, in laws, friends, husbands , depression and at the end of the day as sexual escapists. Then in the end how they find romance is all that the book revolves around.
  • Madhurima: Well we have talked a lot about books...in this 21st century don't you find a kind of competition in this writing industry?
Madhuri: Did you see the Litomania Session? Preeti Shenoy, Ravinder Singh are all close friends to me. Ravinder somewhat sells around 1.5 million copies and Preeti far more books than I do. So I don't really have a competition with them. Well, if others are with me then I don't know what to say.
  • Madhurima: What particularly did inspire you to write?
  •      Madhuri: You just have to be an observer of life. Keep your eyes open...and you will get numerous ideas to write on.

  • Madhurima: At last at the end of this interview tell any one message for your Kolkata readers!
Madhuri: Ektai kotha bolbo, ami November mashe jodi Kolkata jai tahole tomra sobai amake nolen gurer swandesh khaoabe please! ( laughs heartily)

An Ethereal Feeling a Woman loses...

Did you ever imagine what happens when someone very close to a girl leaves her and goes away? She will say...
Promise me when our time has ended,
The tears, broken heart and sorrows        have mended
When we say our last goodbye
And there are no more tears left to cry
Promise me that you will keep our memories alive
For someone new might soon arrive.
For parting is the price we pay
We loved each other and now go our separate ways
I feel something is missing, when you walked away all alone,
That night I sat waiting by the phone
But you won't be calling right? Because there is no more you.
What we had is gone, and no longer shared by you,
What we had is gone, and no longer shared by two.
The spark is out, fire extinguished and gone
The love isn't personal, it is for whoever comes along.
But please promise me now that while we are on neutral grounds
That you will dwell on our memories when the mood comes along
For I am tough, strong and promise not to cry,
            Because I know
For the every first "hello" there is a last "goodbye"...

We are strong...

A women be it a a daughter or a wife or a sister is always seen as a weaker section of a society even at an age where women astronauts going to moon, conquering and climbing the highest peak of the Himalayas or even becoming president of a democratic country.
Though irrespective of having all the quality's of a man still seen we are seen as liability in some family's,
And quite often even when a girl child is killed, the dominating part of our society remains mute.
Stop foeticide. Let a girl see life.
Earlier in medieval period during the death of their husbands women were set ablaze on fire.(Sati)
We have attained 60 odd even years of independence...
Still women are not safe!
From rape to molestation...
To infanticide...!
All through life girls are taught by their parents not to talk to strangers but at the end they forcefully marry their daughters off to an unknown guy with the so called "arranged marriage "practice.
Then we have honour killing which is very much prevalent in north Indian families.
Intercaste marriage still a taboo in many Indian upper class and middle class family
A girl is seen as a lakhsmi in a family, so,
Welcome her with clean dignity
And set her free as an independent bird has her own wings to fly high without obstacles.
Let her be free
Set her free
"A change in life is constant"
Let their be no hindrance and obstacle in an upbringing of a girl,
No wonder today women population dropping down on statistical charts still in minority community women are tortured.
Though the taxation authority has revised tax slabs for women but in reality are they really relieved of burden??
A change in mindset of people is needed!!

Come on India...don't forget we WOMEN are God! Don't forget that we are STRONG!
